Programs

Some of the things I am currently working on include: imdoops, a program to detect duplicate and near duplicate images in a collection; ipx, a set of Gimp plugins that perform some specific image processing algorithms; cMap, which is an implementation of a self-organizing neural network; and the clusutils package, which contains programs to assist researchers in their study of data clustering algorithms.

In the past, I have worked on a variety of different projects. I was a part of the team which developed the NCSA Mosaic web browser for the X Window system. Also at NCSA, I was a member of the Habanero development team, and I worked on a small image processing application written in Java. While at the Imaging Systems Laboratory at the University of Illinois' Dept. of Landscape Architecture, I worked on a 3-D forest ecosystem modeling environment. The lab has since moved to Penn State in Fall 2000. I also once wrote a cell biology simulation called STAGES, and I've even written plugins for DeBabelizer, a graphics program by Equilibrium.

Here are some little Perl scripts: agghex.pl, which will generate postscript files of hexagonal grids; and hotpages.pl, a program that will generate HTML for a table of links after analyzing which pages on your website are "hot," i.e., accessed a lot. There is also a page discussing an image texture browser that I worked on a couple of years ago.
